FINANCIAL
COMMUNICATIONS
According to the National Investor Relations Institute, almost
85 percent of publicly traded companies regularly conduct earnings
calls with Wall Street analysts. Today more than half (55 percent
of 2,700) of the 2,700 publicly traded companies affiliated with
NIRI have "opened" their calls to financial media and individual
investors.
That
number shot up from 30 percent just a year earlier. Some credit
this change to the "democratic" nature of many New Economy companies,
who were in the vanguard of open calls. The bottom line for executives
is that their audience is growing, and new skills are needed to
distinguish one company from the next in today's cluttered and competitive
communications environment. In the financial arena effective leaders
must be able to move easily between quarterly conference calls,
annual investor gatherings and small meetings with buy and sell-side
analysts.
WPNT offers a graduated curriculum of financial communications
training programs designed to make each of these interactions more
strategic and more meaningful. Taking part in our programs are WPNT
Press and Analyst Corps members including former Wall
Street analysts, veteran investor relations professionals and members
of the financial trade media. All have signed strict confidentiality
agreements.
WPNT also assists clients with the communications aspects of debt
and balance sheet restructuring, IPO preparation and launch, financial
media tours, and investor outreach for a wide range of clients including
many in the manufacturing, technology, media, pharmaceutical and
telecom sectors.
