SECOND QUARTER 2002 HIGHLIGHTS
While the road to economic recovery is still unclear and consumer
confidence in corporate governance is shaken, some businesses see
opportunity in the current climate. Many WPNT clients are differentiating
themselves during this "crisis of confidence" by demonstrating they
are trusted stewards and capable leaders.
| |
In preparation for the recent 2002 International
Aids Conference in Barcelona, WPNT provided Executive Media
Training to a California biopharmaceutical
company. Spokespersons included clinical researchers
who presented the latest data on the company's new
drug for the treatment of HIV infection. Senior management,
marketing and communications also discussed the drug's profile
with physicians, patients and educators. |
| |
WPNT is providing strategic counsel to a leading industrial client seeking a critical, yet controversial
NPDES permit. WPNT has guided
a significant expansion of the company's stakeholder engagement
process to build support for the environmental permit application
and the multi-million dollar project. |
| |
A leading
Fortune 300 company sought training support from WPNT
on two fronts. Another of the healthcare giant's business unit
presidents participated in the Leadership
Communication Series. WPNT also readied another executive
for a CNNi satellite, panel interview
on corporate ethics. |
| |
The emergency operations center of Exelon Nuclear's Quad Cities plant was the location of a crisis drill conducted
by WPNT. The exercise included executives, technical staff and
spokespersons for numerous emergency planning agencies responding
to a fictitious incident at the plant near Davenport, Iowa.
The drill was in preparation for the plant's Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) and Federal Emergency Management Administration
(FEMA) evaluated exercise later this summer. |
| |
Elsewhere, the South Texas Project's Nuclear
Generating Station near Bay City again sought Crisis Communications
Training from WPNT prior to the start of its 2002 NRC/FEMA Drill
Season. The plant consistently receives the highest scores on
its evaluated drills from the regulatory agencies. |
| |
Continuing its commitment
to crisis readiness, a global oil & gas technology firm again tapped WPNT for assistance with Crisis Communications
Training for plant leaders. Consecutive full-day programs were
held near Chicago and featured a custom-designed hypothetical
scenario and the WPNT Press Corps. |
| |
Human resource managers from across
a leading appliance maker participated
in a WPNT Media Awareness Program. The
managers are taking on more communications responsibilities at their respective plants. |
| |
As its acquisition
approaches, the senior management team of an oil
products corporation readied itself with Executive Presentation
Skills & Media Training. The program was offered in Houston
and featured a former White House Press Corps member, who is
also a member of the WPNT Press Corps. |
| |
WPNT Partner Ray Thompson was one of
60 executives invited by Defense Secretary Rumsfeld to participate
in the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference. The distinguished
program offers business leaders a first-hand opportunity to
witness military operations and interact with Pentagon leaders
in Washington, D.C. |
