FIRST QUARTER 2007 HIGHLIGHTS
The first quarter saw a demand for WPNT services in international locales as clients sought training for their nationals and expatriates.
WPNT handled programs in Beijing and Hong Kong for
three U.S.-based multinational companies active in the world’s fastest growing
economy. A Beijing-based associate with extensive international experience and language skills assisted with executive speech coaching and presentation
skills training for executives from roughly a dozen different countries. We return to the Asia Pacific Region in May with programs scheduled for Shanghai,
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Other first quarter highlights include:
| |
High potential managers presented their findings to senior leadership on possible new product lines and business ventures during
the final week of a three-week development program, in which WPNT assisted as faculty providing Executive Presentation Training. WPNT conducted a
workshop in Asia and
coaching in the Midwest. |
| |
In advance of its most important speaking engagement of the year, WPNT assisted this energy technology company in preparation for a worldwide petrochemical
conference in San Antonio. Six engineers were scheduled to speak, each before audiences of several hundred refining gas processing
executives. Topics for the six presenters included fuels strategies, gasoline processes and renewables production. Specific attention was given
to opening statements and the messenger during two Executive Presentation Skills coaching sessions scheduled within a week of the meeting. |
| |
In preparation for the closure of a large manufacturing plant, a half dozen executives and managers participated in a WPNT
Issues Management program. Training emphasis was placed on the announcement to the 150 employees as well as related news media coverage. The
shutdown of this Southern state plant was particularly sensitive as the facility had an excellent production track record during its more than
thirty year life. Both the plant manager and vice president of manufacturing were quoted in local news media coverage which was considered balanced
and fair. |
| |
With its grand opening more than a year away, the director of this one-of-a-kind museum underwent three WPNT Executive Communication
Coaching sessions in a month. The executive, who is responsible for every aspect of the project including contracting & construction, environmental impact,
government outreach, business development, exhibits, and marketing focused on presenting to the company’s executive committee as well as key external
audiences. The museum, located in the Midwest is intended to leverage the strategic value of this well-known consumer brand. |
| |
Partners of this management consulting company participated in both semi-private and group Executive Communications
Coaching programs. Participants
represented insurance and high tech & telecom expertise with WPNT programs conducted in both Chicago and Lake Tahoe. |
| |
More than 70 managers of the IT function of this global specialty materials company took part in a WPNT Executive Presentation
Skills Program. A
dozen WPNT partners and associates traveled to Atlantic City for the day-long program. |
| |
In January WPNT worked with the chief communications officer of a Fortune 50 company in advance of an earnings-related conference
call with news media. Next day’s coverage included sound bites on National Public Radio and quotes in USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. |
| |
WPNT conducted two programs for a fast-growing energy company. First, the company’s president and CEO underwent executive
speech coaching. WPNT then went to Panama City, Panama for a stakeholder mapping workshop with leadership teams from several
of the company’s South American subsidiaries. The four-hour workshop helped these executives identify and understand stakeholder’s
importance to their success and improved their strategic communications with key external audiences.
|
| |
WPNT congratulates 20 of our clients who were selected in this year's list of “America's Most Admired Companies.” These
rankings, published in the March 19 issue of Fortune magazine, reflect how companies are judged by their peers, a powerful measure of their true performance. |
| |
In February an international company looked to WPNT for media training as part of a marketing campaign involving the Daytona
500. WPNT Senior Associates Alison Freeman and Rhonda Hughes went to St. Louis to prepare several “Brand Ambassadors” to answer questions
in a high-pressure environment with heavy media presence. |
| |
WPNT’s Ray Thompson conducted a customer-centered communications skills workshop for sales managers from a specialty chemical
company at a conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The conference was attended by 45 managers from around the country. |
| |
More than 60 information technology managers from an international company underwent a day of executive presentation skills training in Atlantic
City, NJ. To maximize individual on-camera experience and feedback, WPNT provided 12 trainers and technicians to staff and equip 12 breakout
rooms. The session was the highlight of the group’s annual conference. |
