THIRD QUARTER 2000 HIGHLIGHTS
You may notice something different about our letterhead. We have
a new name. A highlight of the quarter for us is the addition of
Ray Thompson who purchased an equity partnership in what is now
known as WPNT, or
WixtedPopeNoraThompson
& Associates
Ray has managed our Houston office since early 1999 and has worked
with many of our existing as well as new clients both in Texas and
around the globe. His twenty years of experience in government and
media relations, strategy and communications training are reflected
in much of the work completed this past quarter.
| |
In preparation for a major name change and brand
launch, WPNT conducted Executive Media
Training outside Chicago for half a dozen senior executives of a leading insurer. |
| |
A leadership team from a well-known energy concern flew to Dallas for a WPNT-facilitated strategy session to develop a government relations and communications plan for a multi-million
dollar project. |
| |
Environmental impact of resort development, pricing
and safety were some of the issues covered during separate Media and Crisis Communications Training programs held
in New Hampshire and California for member resorts of a ski-holding company. A Los Angeles-based WPNT Press Corps member assisted with training during the simulation of a three-hour tabletop crisis scenario. |
| |
WPNT's Press Corps, including one bi-lingual member
also assisted with Crisis Communications Training for almost two dozen Latin American country
directors of an international airline. The training, conducted
in Houston, also featured a three-hour scenario. |
| |
WPNT's nuclear unit provided training to numerous
utility clients in preparation for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's fall drill season. Bay City was the site of a two-day Crisis Communications training program followed
by a drill for the South Texas Project.
Separately, a drill conducted for Alliant Energy's
Duane Arnold Energy Center outside Cedar Rapids was preceded
by a full-day Crisis Communications Training program for plant and off-site personnel. |
| |
In preparation for a national business program,
WPNT provided Executive Media Training to a senior executive of the emerging dot.com arm of an international publisher. The satellite television interview was an effort to build brand awareness with Wall Street, business partners
and consumers. |
| |
Two division presidents of a global energy provider
received Executive Speech Coaching in separate programs in Houston and Chicago. One session was designed
in preparation for a financial analysts presentation, the other
for a series of town hall meetings to enhance community dialogue. |
| |
In an effort to improve the effectiveness of its
quarterly earnings conference calls with Wall Street, a publishing
& broadcasting giant turned to WPNT for counsel and Analyst
Communications Training. The training included members
of WPNT's Analyst Corps. |
| |
To accompany its new crisis communications plan
developed by WPNT, more than four dozen principals and staff
members of the Des Moines Public Schools participated in Media Awareness Programs.
The programs were conducted over two days. |
| |
WPNT provided a series of training sessions to
help prepare the CFO of a biotech and
pharmaceutical company for a corporate presentation at
a recent securities conference in San
Francisco. The PowerPoint presentation included a review
of company milestones, products and pipeline followed by Q&A. |
| |
Facing a severely depressed stock price and in
advance of a critical management meeting, WPNT provided strategy,
counsel and Presentation Training to key senior executives of a business-to-business Fortune
500. |
