FOURTH QUARTER 2000 HIGHLIGHTS

Recognizing the increased media and public scrutiny surrounding the siting of industrial facilities, WPNT has developed a unique curriculum around the concept of Enhancing Community Dialogue. Conducted for numerous clients, this program takes a strategic approach to identifying and activating supporters among local community groups, regulatory officials, neighbors and landowners.

WPNT nuclear power clients were busy this fall, as part of the bi-annual Nuclear Regulatory Commission drill season. WPNT assisted with several, successful on-site drills including Exelon's ComEd LaSalle plant in Mazon, Illinois, Alliant Energy's Duane Arnold Energy Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the South Texas Project in Bay City. WPNT Press Corps members also assisted with the drills, which received accolades from federal observers.
To evaluate its own crisis preparedness, a global telecommunications giant retained WPNT to audit a recent crisis exercise on its Chicago area campus. More than a hundred individuals covering various disciplines and multiple teams participated in the hypothetical scenario involving both domestic and international operations.
Focusing on persuasive rather than merely informative communications, senior and middle managers of a regional airline participated in two, intensive Executive Presentation & Media Training programs in Houston. The full-day sessions were kept to four participants, maximizing on-camera work followed by private critique with WPNT's New York-based senior associate.
Increased pressure on all executives today to give external presentations prompted a Cedar Rapids-based business equipment leasing company to retain WPNT for Executive Presentation Training. The highly customized training focused on PowerPoint development, organization and execution.
In an effort to reduce prep time and improve efficiency in giving presentations, 50 network management executives of a national airline participated in two, separate WPNT Presentation Planning programs conducted in Atlanta.
The latest clinical trials being conducted at the Human Gene Research Therapy Institute and the John Stoddard Cancer Center were the subject of "21ST CENTURY CURES," the ninth Feel Your Best program produced by WPNT for the Iowa Health System. The program aired in prime time on the CBS affiliate in Des Moines.
Confronting and managing a possible public health crisis was the focus of a hypothetical scenario undertaken by managers of a global consumer goods and food company. The crisis was part of a day long WPNT Media and Issues Management program conducted in Chicago. A WPNT Press Corps member assisted with the staging of the scenario.
A Houston-based global, B2B online marketplace for the oil & gas industry retained WPNT to provide on-going counsel and speech coaching for its senior management team.
